I am indeed a single working mother living on the Central Coast of California with my beautiful daughter, Maycee. In addition to working full-time as an administrative assistant in the vineyard management industry, I also work part-time as an independent insurance agent and enjoy playing music, making art, and tapping into anything creative.
I have a passion for raising Maycee and ensuring sure she is comfortable, happy, and healthy and is able to enjoy her childhood to the fullest despite any obstacles single parenting brings. This blog chronicles the challenges of making that happen when you are on your own: the financial and emotional struggles, the balancing act, and the difficulty of being able to provide structure amidst it all. Intertwined within these topics will also be the revelation of new-found strength and candor. Hopefully if you continue to read daily you will find stories that make you laugh, allow you to cry, and bring a sigh of relief knowing that you are not alone.

Hi Maycee’s Mom, I am a married, yet stay at home dad with two beautiful daughters. In a sense I feel we are opposites in that I would love to have that job again (as you do) as my way to provide structure for the girls. But you learn everyday, don’t you? I try to make amusing and colorful stories on my blog everyday. Maybe some day our kids can interview each other! On a side note, I find it interesting you work in the wine business. I worked in restaurants for many years and considered myself a good wine salesman. I studied a bit on American wines and European…and here it is your livelihood. I like it!
Thanks for reading, 3D! I will definitely check out your blog. One of my favorite types of people are SAHD’s.
My best friend’s hubby is one, and his blog (Five Things at Once) is what inspired me to write about my experiences, as well. And, perhaps opposites, I find that after doing this for awhile now, I define myself less and less by my singleparentedness. I’ve connected with all kinds of folks, and there are more similarities across the lines than differences. My line of work is in the vineyard manangement side of things, but wine is all around us, ha, ha! I look forward to reading more from you, and thanks, again, for your comments.
Thanks for your friend’s blog site! I will check it out. I feel kinda funny commenting on all these ‘mommy’ sites sometimes. I hear you “wine is all around us”…you should see my two when I tell them its nap time (whine, whine, whine) ; ) If your company needs an east coast manager or rep…I’m your guy! I look forward to reading more from you as well! Good luck to you!
PS. your “Five Things At Once” link on your blog roll did not come up, going to WordPress instead…
Thanks for letting me know about my blogroll. I’ll see if I can fix the issue!
I found you through The Monster in Your Closet. I’m glad to be here and look forward to following along in your journey.
