About the Author

Hi, there, and thanks for stopping by .  I’ve been doing the single parent thing for over 10 years.  I started this blog as a sort of therapy for myself.  It was cheaper than seeing a psychologist, and it allowed me to reach out and connect with others who may be experiencing the same feelings and situations.  This was back in 2011-what seems like way more than 6 years ago.  What I found was a community of readers and writers who transcended the single parent category.  As time went by, I realized I put myself in a box, a one model fits all single mom box.  As time went by, I realized the box was stifling.

There is nothing easy about being a single parent.  Nothing.  But, there is also nothing easy about living life in any way, shape, or form.  Nothing.  And, while this may be true, life is worth living.  It is worth loving.  It is worth opening the box and breaking free.

Let’s see what happens.  After all, life is short, so give a chuckle.

  1. Hi Maycee’s Mom, I am a married, yet stay at home dad with two beautiful daughters. In a sense I feel we are opposites in that I would love to have that job again (as you do) as my way to provide structure for the girls. But you learn everyday, don’t you? I try to make amusing and colorful stories on my blog everyday. Maybe some day our kids can interview each other! On a side note, I find it interesting you work in the wine business. I worked in restaurants for many years and considered myself a good wine salesman. I studied a bit on American wines and European…and here it is your livelihood. I like it!

    1. Thanks for reading, 3D! I will definitely check out your blog. One of my favorite types of people are SAHD’s. 🙂 My best friend’s hubby is one, and his blog (Five Things at Once) is what inspired me to write about my experiences, as well. And, perhaps opposites, I find that after doing this for awhile now, I define myself less and less by my singleparentedness. I’ve connected with all kinds of folks, and there are more similarities across the lines than differences. My line of work is in the vineyard manangement side of things, but wine is all around us, ha, ha! I look forward to reading more from you, and thanks, again, for your comments. 🙂

      1. Thanks for your friend’s blog site! I will check it out. I feel kinda funny commenting on all these ‘mommy’ sites sometimes. I hear you “wine is all around us”…you should see my two when I tell them its nap time (whine, whine, whine) ; ) If your company needs an east coast manager or rep…I’m your guy! I look forward to reading more from you as well! Good luck to you!

  2. What a wonderful introduction,
I am visiting you this evening from

away with my Profile I will call in

here in our vast blogosphere 🙂

Have a very Happy New Year 2013

  3. You are amazing, your daughter beautiful and blog so warm and welcoming. I wish I could convey mine as elegantly, sadly the written word isn’t my strength.
I’m so glad to have found your blog,

  5. Hi Kasey, I’m so glad I found your blog! I’m not a single mom (although I am the product of one, lol!) but we have a lot in common. I have a husband who has a long hours job so most of the time I operate as if I am a single parent. I teach horseback riding and homeschool my oldest (the other two are too young). I just started blogging and I’m looking forward to reading your thoughts and tips on balancing your work and parenting.

    1. Hi, Valentine! I’m doing well….just super busy with harvest right now. I will be done some time in October and will be able to breathe a bit again. How are you doing? Miss my blog and blogging buddies! XOXO-Kasey

Now I'd love to hear from you...
